Early Life
Born Neelakanta Pillai in Tamil Nadu, India, he was a Hindu court official who converted to Christianity and took the name Devasahayam (Lazarus).
Persecution and Martyrdom
His conversion angered local authorities. He was arrested, tortured, and finally shot for refusing to renounce his faith. He endured suffering with patience and forgiveness.
Legacy
St. Devasahayam is venerated as a martyr who bore witness to Christ in the face of severe persecution, inspiring Indian Christians to remain faithful.
